There are tons of options available for home security these days. Things you can do to help give you and your family a little more peace of mind. So, what are some of those options and some tips on how to navigate the world of infinite tech and gadgets? We give you a few of them here.
1. Cameras.
One of the more obvious choices, of course. But there are still so many options. You can get hardwired, wireless, indoor, outdoor, 2-way voice, etc etc. Generally speaking; hardwired cameras are more secure and more reliable. Wireless cameras are only as good as your wi-fi and can be hacked into easier. However, they are still a good option and more budget friendly. Hardwired cameras require date cables to be run throughout your home and back to a central control station. This can be more costly as there are more cables involved, holes to be drilled and patched and most will likely have to hire a professional. Wireless cameras are a good alternative and are better than no cameras. If you set them up on strategic locations and set them to notify you when there is certain motion. They can act as a good deterrent and give you some piece of mind.

2. Motion Activated Lights

Simple, effective, and self-explanatory. Motion is sensed and a big bright light comes on illuminating the area. This is an effective and relatively low-cost deterrent, that is worth the minor investment.
3. Video Doorbell
Ties into the camera heading but can also be a standalone item. Again, not too expensive, and relatively easy to setup. This is a good way to keep eyes on the front of your home. Get notified when people come to your front door and be able to talk to them through the doorbell.

4. Guardian Door Locks
Not just a child-proofing lock. These locks are quite strong and effective. Like anything, it is just another layer of deterrent. However, they certainly beef up your locking system and are difficult to break through. Put one on each entry door to your home.

5. Window and Door sensors
If you have an existing alarm system, then you likely already have these or have the wiring for them. They make your alarm go beep whenever a window or door is opened in the house. They also have wireless ones now that can send a notification to your phone whenever anything is opened. A useful tool to know if someone is trying to get in if you aren’t home.

This list could be much longer and more extensive. We tried to focus on easy and relatively inexpensive solutions to help improve your homes security. Do you have any of these already set up? Can you think of anything else that would be good on this list? We’d love to hear from you.
